There are thousands of electrical parts that electricians and electrical contractors
use.
Your responsibility as an electrician is to know these parts and their proper
applications.
The pages and links in this section will help you to become knowledgeable with their
uses.
Treadless are available in many sizes.
Common sizes are 1/2" thru 4".
Use of these style fittings varies from not having a threader available to joining 2
conduits together in a limited space. A example would be installing a conduit in a trench
without the ability to screw together the 2 conduits using a grc coupling.
They are not approved for explosion proof installations.
A stack switch allows you to operate two electrical devices such as a exhaust fan and bathroom light
in a single device box that "was" wire for a single switch.
If the exhaust fan and light were wired back to this box you could separate the switch legs and install this
switch to control each separately.
Dimmers come in all shapes and sizes. You must first find out the proper wattage required for your
light fixture.
Simply add the wattage of your light bulbs to get that requirement.
Say you have 400 watts of light bulbs you would need a 600 watt dimmer. If you had 600 watts of light bulbs
you would need to install a 100 watt dimmer so as not to overload the dimmer.
Look on the packaging and most will give you a table for comparison.
